"What's The Alternative?"

While these figures for tobacco, alcohol and other drug use among Brevard youth are high, it is still an activity of a minority of youth. Most of our youth have one thing, something in their lives’ that’s important – important enough to stand between them and drugs. That is their “Anti-Drug”. Right now you have the opportunity to join a nationwide youth drug-prevention awareness movement to affirm and reinforce the anti-drug attitudes of young people.

The National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign has launched a new on-line resource to help teachers, parents, grandparents, employers’, etc., deliver anti-drug messages. We are calling upon you to participate. Through the Anti-Drug Campaign you have access to a web site www.theantidrug.com that provides drug education resources guide developed by the Office of National Drug Control Policy and experienced educators. There are classroom activities and reference tools that can be used by any teacher. More importantly, this guide gives insight into the thoughts and concerns of students on the subject of drug use. A related web site www.Freevibe.com was developed to help young people understand the dangers of substance abuse and make responsible decisions with their lives. The Freevibe site features bulletin boards, role-playing games, media literacy tools, and facts about today’s drugs.
