Helping Kids Keep DRUG-FREE! Parents, teachers, caregivers alike recognize that to keep their children drug free they have to talk to them about drugs. However, that's challenging for most and many admit they don't know what to say. For this reason, the Office of National Drug Control Policy has put together a brochure: Keeping Your Kids Drug-Free: A How To Guide For Parents and Other Caregivers. The brochure provides strategies for staying involved in kids' lives and provides ideas for what to say when talking to children about drugs. The role adults play in keeping up, communicating and interacting with a child is critical in the development of resilient, healthy and drug-free youth. For general guidelines on media literacy specific to illicit drugs and activities in faith settings, visit www.theantidrug.com. A set of activities for middle school teachers are also available online at www.TeacherGuide.org. These brochures and materials are also available by phone at (800) 631-1222 or email, antidrug@nytimes.com. Free brochures are also available by contacting PREVENT! at 321-259-7262 or at preventb@bellsouth.net. PREVENT!'s Information Referral Specialist is available to offer information on topics that relate specifically to your needs.
