For some youth and adults, the number of risk factors in
their lives places them at higher risk for substance abuse. For example, an
individual may have a family history of substance abuse, live in an at-risk
community, and have an anger problem. A child may experience academic failure,
associate with the wrong peer group and begin experimentation with substances.
A family history of substance abuse is the single most serious risk factor for
substance abuse. In families, substance
abuse is also associated with child abuse.
Intervention programs are designed specifically for these at-risk individuals and families to provide more in depth help. Intervention programs include individual and small group counseling and may be longer in duration
Youth Intervention Programs
ALPHA
A year long school-based tutorial and counseling for 3rd and 4th graders needing improvement in behavior and school performance. Parent Participation is required.
RESIST
A 7-week group interaction program for adolescent first time offenders and others ages 14 to 18 that addresses issues including family and peer relationships, anger management, substance abuse and other high-risk behaviors, self-discipline and resiliency.
Y-RESIST
A 10-week group interaction and counseling program for youth ages 10 to 14 that addresses the same issues as RESIST. Individual counseling is provided for children who are inappropriate for group counseling.
Project SUCCESS
A 9-week substance abuse education and group counseling program, with follow-up, for students placed in an alternative learning center due a substance abuse violation
It’s Your Life” Tobacco Education
A comprehensive intervention program for youth under age 18 who use tobacco products
Adult/Family Intervention Programs
Anger Management
A 10-week program designed for adults with substance abuse and/or mental health issues.
Family Ties
A 22-week interactive family skill-building and strengthening program for high risk families, with ongoing case management plus individual and family counseling sessions.
Building Bridges
A 6-week counseling group for parents whose children are in out-of-home placement, a prerequisite for Family Ties, if applicable.
Sally’s House Long-Term Residential Recovery Home Program
Residence
in the House includes not only a safe place for a woman and her children to
live for up to two years, but provides comprehensive services, including
outpatient treatment, case management, service linkages, child care, mentoring

Substance Abuse Assessment: Fee for Service
In-depth face-to-face assessment by Masters level counselor to determine level of substance abuse involvement and need for treatment.
