MELBOURNE, FL PREVENT!’s Robin’s Nest Recovery Home for Women and children has been renamed “SALLY’S HOUSE” after Sally Lloyd, a long time employee and Program Director, and the vision behind the creation of the recovery home. Sally unexpectedly passed away at the age of 55.

More than 70 individuals were in attendance as PREVENT! rededicated “SALLY’s HOUSE”. They included PREVENT! Board Members and Staff, Representative Thad Altman, Melbourne City Councilwoman Pat Poole and Cheryl Palmer, representing Mayor Buckley.

Constructed from Sally’s vision and the assistance of PREVENT!,, the house opened in 1993 as a place where women could find assistance in obtaining substance abuse treatment and other services necessary to lead productive and satisfying lives. Keeping infants and children with their mothers during this process was a priority that has made the house unique in Brevard County.

Since the recovery home opened in 1993 the focus has remained the same and as a result, more than 251 women and children have received services with 38 women giving birth to healthy, drug-free babies. Although funding is extremely limited PREVENT! continues to offer assistance to the many women and children who are in need of the services at Sally’s House.

PREVENT! is the leading provider of comprehensive substance abuse prevention, intervention, treatment, aftercare and support services in Brevard County. For more information on the programs and services available or to find out more about how to become a visit partner contact PREVENT! of Brevard at 321-259-7262.
